IndieFlicks is very happy to learn that Blood + Roses, the debut feature from Simon Aitken, is finished and ready for release. The horror follows Jane, a young woman who spends the night with a vampire, Seth - an action that has unforeseen repercussions and leaves her with a dangerous choice. Starring Marysia Kay and Benjamin Green, the film will hopefully be hitting screens towards the end of the year. The trailer for Matthew Dixon’s first feature film, Elemental Storage, is now online. Starring Alix Wilton Regan,Jack Klaff, Ali Kemp and Giles Alderson the film follows Alice Hargrave as she looks to discover the real reasons behind her mothers suicide.

Strigoi, the British fantasy film based on Romanian mythology will get its premier at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival on Monday 17th August.

Strigoi is the British Comedy from director Faye Jackson. Based on the Romanian mythology, the film stars Constantin Barbulescu, Camelia Maxim, Catalin Paraschiv , Dan Popa and Rudi Rosenfeld. Look out for an interview in the coming weeks.

The Cannes Film Festival is now in full swing. Two films which are representing British Independent film at the festival are Schrödinger’s Girl and The Butterfly Tattoo. Schrodinger’s Girl is a low budget Sci-Fi film starring Abigail Tarttelin and directed by Huw Bowen whilst The Butterfly Tattoo is an adaptation from Phillip Pullman’s novel of the same name and starring Duncan Stuart and Jessica Blake. The film was directed by Phil Hawkins, who was personally picked by Steven Spielberg to compete on the Fox TV show ‘On the Lot‘ and has already been given a cinema release in the US. The film was screened on the opening night of Cannes and gained a lot of good reviews. The Fallow Field is the debut feature from Leigh Dovey. The horror/thriller follows an amnesiac, Matt Sadler, who suffers from recurring black outs making his life hell. As disturbing memories start to come back to him he begins to retrace his steps using these memories, only to find something more disturbing than he could possibly imagine. The film stars Steve Garry, Michael Dacre, Johnny Vivash, Natalie Overs, Sarah Pemberton, Edwin Wright, Anna Ruben and Angus Kennedy and was produced by Figment Productions.
